RISHITA RAI

MUSIC, MIND & MOUNTAIN

I am an undergraduate student at Krea University, pursuing my academic interests in Economics with a strong focus on understanding markets, policy, and decision-making. I am intellectually curious and motivated by the application of economic thinking to real-world challenges.

A dedicated badminton athlete, I have represented my state at competitive levels, developing discipline, resilience, and a strong sense of teamwork through sport. My commitment to athletics complements my academic journey and reflects her ability to balance rigor with performance.

Beyond academics and sport, I am deeply interested in music , food and trekking, finding inspiration in both creative expression and nature. In 2025, I marked a significant personal milestone by successfully summiting Indrahar Pass, reaching an altitude of approximately 14,000 feet, an experience that reinforced my passion for endurance, exploration, and personal growth.

I continue to pursue a path shaped by curiosity, commitment, and challenge, seeking opportunities that allow me to grow intellectually, physically, and creatively. I am currently curating my perspectives through creative writing.  I write with the hope that my work resonates and sparks reflection, and I currently contribute as a freelance writer for HerCampus, sharing stories and perspectives that engage and inspire a wider audience . When I’m not devouring food, I’m usually immersed in a thriller novel, chasing compelling narratives and unexpected twists.

EDUCATION
Athlete’s discipline, economist’s mind.

My academic training in international school environments and my continued engagement in competitive sports have instilled both a global outlook and strong discipline in my approach to economics. I intend to pursue graduate study in economics with a clear focus on rigorous theoretical and empirical research, progressing from a Master’s to a PhD. My interests lie in economic decision-making, behavioral biases, and applied microeconomics, using econometric and data-driven methods to analyze real-world outcomes.

Finding My Voice on HerCampus.
Writing life as it is—one honest perspective at a time!

Being selected to write for the HerCampus platform is both an honor and an exciting responsibility. As a student of Krea University, a space that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and multiple ways of seeing the world, I have learned that stories gain depth when they are told from lived, honest perspectives. Writing for HerCampus allows me to extend that learning beyond the classroom—into conversations that resonate, question, and connect.

Letting go is another way of flying.
Some views are earned in the air!

At Mürren, I stepped into the wind and trusted it. From the Schilthornbahn heights, the earth fell away, and the Lauterbrunnen Valley opened like a quiet secret— waterfalls breathing, villages whispering, the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau standing timeless. For a while, I was not above the mountains— I was part of their stillness.

Japan: Where Time Moves Gently.
it taught me how to pause!

I walked through worlds that honored both speed and stillness. Lanterns at Sensoji, light at teamLabthe rush of Shibuya, loyalty at Hachikoand neon dreams in Shinjuku and AkihabaraBamboo whispered in Arashiyama, a thousand gates guided me at Fushimi Inari, and history bowed gently in Nara.

In Hiroshima, silence taught me remembrance; at Miyajima, the sea held a floating prayer. Japan stayed with me— not as places visited, but as moments felt. Where time slows, and meaning deepens.!
